A school becomes best and well-known in the particular locality, when the heads of the institutions - The principal/ Principal/Headmistress plan the activities of the year in a best possible way for the staff and students to follow. When whole activities of the year are planned well the rest becomes easy to walk the success trade mark of a school. The school becomes the center point of learning and it gives the best of opportunities for the children to discover themselves.

The head of the institution he/she is the Head Teacher and should be the best Teacher. He/she is like a/the captain of a ship who with the assistance of the crew steers the ship safely to its destination. He/she is the leader who knows the way, shows the way and goes the way. If the head of the school plans well the activities of the year the teaching and learning will become an interesting task to carry on.

I would like to suggest some of the functions of the head of the institutions that would help them in greater deal.

1..𝗣𝗟𝗔𝗡𝗡𝗜𝗡𝗚: The success depends on the planning. It decides on objectives as per the policies of the school and educational policies of the Board and Government and works out systematically the day-to – day functions with the co-operation of the staff.
2..𝗢𝗥𝗚𝗔𝗡𝗜𝗦𝗜𝗡𝗚:  It is another important way to make your teaching and learning more systematic. Organizing effective use of the staff and facilities for the benefit of the students in the school. Every activity of the school must be planned well. It is not enough that you plan the activities well but it should be well organized, so that the children benefit out of it.
3..𝗖𝗢𝗡𝗧𝗥𝗢𝗟𝗟𝗜𝗡𝗚:  Any school can become well-known and the best in the locality if you ensure all the norms of the government and it must be followed. Ensure that work is done to the standard expected by the board. Education Department, Management and Parents. Keep the welfare of the students and plan the activities.
4..𝗗𝗜𝗥𝗘𝗖𝗧𝗜𝗡𝗚 : Planning and executing all the activities in the campus, Work allotment for various activities of the campus.
5..𝗖𝗢 𝗖𝗢𝗥𝗗𝗜𝗡𝗔𝗧𝗜𝗡𝗚 𝗖𝗢-𝗖𝗨𝗥𝗥𝗜𝗖𝗨𝗟𝗔𝗥 𝗔𝗡𝗗 𝗘𝗫𝗧𝗥𝗔 𝗖𝗨𝗥𝗥𝗜𝗖𝗨𝗟𝗔𝗥 𝗔𝗖𝗧𝗜𝗩𝗜𝗧𝗜𝗘𝗦
Training, guiding, encouraging the staff to work to the best of ability to bring the best results in all the fields of programs.

The Head of the institution must possess the followings

1..𝗜𝗠𝗔𝗚𝗜𝗡𝗔𝗧𝗜𝗩𝗘:  The Head of the institution must have the gift of imagination and learn to create in the child’s mind  a love for learning. Must learn to organize innovative programs that impress the child. Must be ready to discuss and get ideas from experienced other heads of the institutions and persons too.
2..𝗞𝗜𝗡𝗗: The Head of the institution must be kind enough to understand the staff and children. Should never dominate things. If you are able to get better ideas from the staff and students should never feel low to accept and execute for the welfare of the children.
3..𝗖𝗢𝗡𝗦𝗜𝗦𝗧𝗘𝗡𝗧: The important role of the Heads of the institution which everyone experts he/she should be reliable. Never take advantage of the position that you hold. Never ill-treat the staff and non-teaching staff just because you have the power. You must have a trick to putting things across to people without hurting themselves – image. Be famous in things.
4..𝗕𝗘 𝗛𝗢𝗡𝗘𝗦𝗧:  Honesty is the best policy. You being the head of the institution everyone will look up to you as a person of honesty. Never lie to people in order to achieve things that will lower your dignity as principal.
5..𝗨𝗡𝗗𝗘𝗥𝗦𝗧𝗔𝗡𝗗𝗜𝗡𝗚: You can be the best head of the institution if you are able to understand the situations and able to relate with staff, students, parents, well-wishers and visitors. Give them due respect and learn to receive them and respond to them in a polite manner because you are a servant of the public. Never lose your temper.

The role of the Principal is to provide leadership, direction and co-ordination within the school. The Principal's main focus should be to develop and maintain effective educational programs within his/her school and to promote the improvement of teaching and learning with his/her school.

The principal has got a greater role to play in bringing up the school with all its aims and objectives. If activities are planned well the rest easily could be achieved with best results. If the head of the institution is clear with his plans and explains to the staff and children how the whole of the academic year is planned, I am sure everyone in the campus will be aware of the expectations of the   heads of the institution and they work accordingly to seek the best result. Often the aims and objectives of the principal or The Head of the institution is not put across to staff and students that’s how at times programs are planned well but it was not communicated the way it has to be organized. In order to carry out the aims and objectives of the school motivating and managing the staff is very important.
